Title: Kazakhstan-Danish Water Days headed by Per Stig Møller
Take part in this major water event in Astana and Almaty from 22-27 June 2009.
In cooperation with the Kazakh Ministry of Environment and the Royal Danish Trade Commission in Kazakhstan we have the pleasure of inviting your company to participate in the Danish Water Days in Kazakhstan taking place in Kazakhstan's two main cities Astana and Almaty from 22-27 June 2009. The business delegation will be headed by Per Stig Møller, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Many of Kazakhstan's water supply systems and wastewater treatment facilities are constructed in Soviet times. And in the turbulent years following 1991 the sector was subject to very extensive neglect.
Due to Kazakhstan's extremely dry climate, sufficient water supply is a hard though very important task to fulfill to secure proper socio-economic development of the country. Since the main part of the water resources comes from surface water, proper wastewater treatment also is an imperative. To deal with these challenges the Kazakh government has adopted the program "Clean drinking water for all" which is part of President, Nursultan Nazarbayev's national strategy towards 2030. The program provides financing and thereby framework for reconstruction of the water networks in many towns and cities around the country.
One of the direct demands of the plan is that the reconstruction has to take place using the latest, most energy efficient and environmentally safe technologies within the field. The timing is therefore perfect for marketing Danish high-tech solutions and know-how towards the Kazakh customers, and to turn the knowledge and goodwill of Danish companies as market leaders into real sales.
To make the Danish Water Days in Kazakhstan 2009 as efficient as possible, we plan to target the three main groups of decision makers for projects within the sector. The Water Days are planned in close cooperation with the Kazakh Ministry of Environment and the events will be organized in both Almaty and Astana:
The Water Days will be headed by the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Per Stig Møller and Ambassador to Kazakhstan and Russia, Mr Per Carlsen. The preliminary programme can be found here.
The price of participation will be DKK 21.500 per company (provided 50% support from the Danish Trade Council). Deadline for registration is 1 May 2009 to WTC - bh@wtc.dk or by fax+45 8762 0404 .
Best regards
